Transportation Hub / Festival

Date: Saturday and Sunday, July 15 and 16
Time: 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM

The 2006 garden tour features a central transportation hub and festival site at Bainbridge High School. Ticket holders can enjoy the many off erings at the festival site before, during, and after riding the free shuttle buses to the seven gardens. The festival site is also open free to the general public, and includes the following features:

Art Fair – Featuring the work of talented people from our vibrant community of artists – ranging from fine painting and sculpture to exquisite outdoor furniture – all inspired by the garden.

Kids Art Spot – Have fun creating beautiful fl owers and butterfl ies and grow your own “Fastest Bean in Town” plant.

Container Gardening Demonstrations – Learn from the pros and get inspired with hot ideas for combining color and textures. Soil-based and aquatic containers are demonstrated.

Plant Sale – Leading our plant vendors is Nils Sundquist, of Sundquist Nursery in Poulsbo, specializing in the foliage value of perennials, ferns and grasses. There are also three new vendors to the Bloom this year:

  • Heidi Kaster, of Dragonfly Farms Nursery in Kingston, with a wonderful assortment of agaves, hardy succulents, cactus, carnivorous plants, dahlias, and lavender;

  • Jack Hirsch, with hostas and shade plants from Naylor Creek Nursery in Chimacum;

  • Mark Hilt, of Bambu-U in Chimacum, offering bamboos, hardy palms and bananas, and other tropical delights.

Food Vendors - A generous off ering of brunch and lunch choices designed for portability. Enjoy a selection from J’aime les Crepes Creperie, Bagels and Beans Coff eehouse, and Winslow Way Cafe.

Free Garden Tour Shuttle – Kitsap Transit buses provide free transportation throughout the weekend on a streamlined route, using the largest and most luxurious vehicles in their fleet. The gardens have been selected for their close proximity to one another. Service is provided between the ferry terminal and the transportation hub, with drop-offs along Winslow Way on all return trips to the ferry terminal. No personal vehicles are allowed at the gardens on Saturday and Sunday.
