Bainbridge in Bloom
Garden Tour Announces New Coordinator
17th Annual Bainbridge in Bloom Garden Tour, July 8,9 and 10.
(Bainbridge Island, Wash.) –The Bainbridge Island Arts and
Humanities Council announces the appointment of Karen McCarthy
King as new Bainbridge in Bloom Garden Tour Coordinator. She replaces
Wendy Welch, who has stepped down from the position after bringing
the event to a new level during nine successful years. In addition
to a great love of gardens, Karen brings an extensive background
in horticulture, public relations and public transit to the position,
Most recently, as the owner of a landscape design and installation
company, Karen designed two gardens on the Garden Rhapsodies tour
in Olympia.
" I have come back to Bainbridge Island, after a twenty
year hiatus, largely because it is a community that gardens -
in a big way." Karen says. "Bainbridge in Bloom draws
people from throughout the region and their expectations are high.
At the same time, the tour depends on the support and enthusiasm
of local people - garden owners, docents, retailers and sponsors,
transit, and artisans to embrace the event and infuse it with
a spirit of community and pride year after year."
