2003 PLANT SALE:
Sundquist Nursery, Bainbridge in Bloom's featured plant sale grower, is run by Nils Sundquist of Poulsbo. Nils started his nursery in 1987 and quit his day job as a nursery buyer ten years later. He is one of the more knowledgable plantspeople in the region.
Nils notes "There are lots of places to find what everyone has seen before, so I grow new and unusual plants every year in addition to some beautiful old favorites."
The nursery specializes in foliage perennials, ferns, and grasses. As a keen gardener himself, Nils says, "I place strong emphasis not just on plant interest, but also on plant performance. "
"I want Sundquist Nursery to be known not just for plants that are worthwhile and uncommon, but also for plants that will grow with reasonable effort. I can't stand nonperformers."
Nils is a plant fiend, so you never know what you're going to find at the sale! He also believes in supporting the arts. A big share of the sale proceeds benefit the BIAHC.
